TIME’S WORK?

Let time do its work, I heard a man say today.  But what does this mean, exactly? What is time’s work?

Everything runs along it, and in one direction, so this must be its work.

The trouble is, time only exists in the moment.  It never leaves the station.

Its job, then, must be to be momentary.
